Are you payed more at OIS if you go after graduating rather than before/while in school? If so, how much a difference are we talking about? Thanks.

Any pro/con comments on the subject also appreciated. (I know that attending OIS after graduation will make you late to your first duty station.)

Yes, you would be paid more after graduation. You will be a LT vice an ENS so base pay is higher. If you are single, I am not sure if you would get BAH yet since you have not reported at your ultimate destination, but you may. If you have dependants you would get BAH anyway for your ultimate duty station.

I would still recommend going to ODS prior to graduation. The extra money you would earn is not worth the hassle you will experience by being late starting internship.

Could you tell me how much of a difference in pay it would be?

Do you get BAH for your location prior to starting Officer training OR your ultimate PDS locale?

this could be a huge difference of up to 1000/mo depending on which rate is paid

In my OIS class there were about 9 interns and because of when they started internship, they were only in Newport for 3-4 weeks. If this happens to you, you might only be paid for that time, as opposed to the full 5 weeks plus school orders or whatever the breakdown is. Then again, if you get school orders before your OIS, maybe that would give you more money? Would that even be allowed to enter school orders first (NROWS does not let you) or after you have graduated?

Im no expert on order writing or ripping the military off, but it would seem as if you might be losing financially. I know I would only have 3 weeks between graduation and internship start date, that is.
