Anyone know which programs send unsolicited post-interview communication about ranking highly/hope to see you? I've heard of:

Brigham (everyone)
Columbia (selectively)
Hopkins (everyone)
Stanford (everyone or almost everyone?)

Anyone know of any others, or would like to correct me?

Yes Hopkins everyone, Brigham everyone

I believe Yale everyone (at least last year)

I didn't get one from Yale when I interviewed this year, but then again, I strongly believe I bombed the interview anyway.

Columbia does send one out and it appears to be selective. I only know of one person who received an email post-interview. Can anyone offer their theories/opinions/stories on this?

Also didnt hear from yale, didnt think the interview went bad either. So either they arent doing it this yr, we will get it later, or we both bombed the interview😕

I also didn't get anything from Yale this year. I really liked the program, and felt like the interviews seemed to go well...but who knows 😳. I know of another applicant who interviewed the same day that I did who also hasn't gotten anything from them yet. So hopefully, since thats at least 4 of us that haven't heard anything it suggests that they haven't been sending stuff out. Who knows.

Good luck everyone!🙂

Awesome, thanks! 👍

how soon after the brigham interview did you guys hear something? was it by mail or email?

I think everyone gets the generic snail mail letter from the Brigham a week after their interview. The letter includes a brief hand written message from one of the interviewers.

Has anyone received any post-interview love from MGH?

I got a handwritten card from an interviewer at mgh mailed the same day as my interview. My brigham interview was one week ago which may be why I haven't received the letter yet

Does anyone know if the Stanford chair sends a voicemail saying that "you are ranked in a position to definitely match" to virtually everyone or only to applicants that are at the top of their list?

I got a lot of decent feedback from them but not that, so no, not everyone gets it.

did anyone NOT get a post-interview letter from Brigham? Mine was sort of generic, nothing handwritten at the bottom, the signatures were even obviously pixelated and printed on there. I have since replied to a few progs telling them they are high on my list and haven't heard anything...so I'm assuming I'm not being courted as aggressively as some of you guys. wah wahhhhhhh :eyebrow:

I'll echo this, I got a lot of good feedback from them but didn't receive a phone call of those sorts, so not everyone gets it.

I received an email from CCF last week. I thought it was a nice gesture.

Edit: Did everyone get one? It was emailed about a month after my interview date.

Someone tell me why this post doesn't scream gunner trying to talk people out of ranking Stanford high...

Just signed up for this post?

I just got one a few days ago. looked cut and pasted considering the weird spacing in spots. dunno how much it means tho, mine read a generic yada yada we're placing you in one of our top positions yada yada. That could mean 100th out of 200some interviewed.

Who knew? Well, I suppose you did...

I remember that it was a significant cause of anxiety for a classmate who wanted to go to Stanford, but didn't get the letter and phone calls. She still successfully matched there.

I don't see how this would influence someone's match list.

It shouldn't but nothing stops a true gunner from trying to influence things.

sounds to me it's been sent to just about everyone. i received one too.
very generic, the italicized parts seemed to be the unique parts (i.e. name, school, interview date).
not really taking it to mean anything, since it appears it was sent to ... everyone.

Sorry, I've been lurking for quite a while but was just confused by the original post stating that everyone or almost everyone receives post-interview communication from Stanford. I just was not sure what type of communication that referred to and was not trying to influence anyone's rank list.

I was just saying it seemed suspicious with it being a first post and all. LJ set me straight.

Columbia doesn't have a protocol on emailing or contacting those who have come for an interview. If you receive something, it's usually of the person's own volition.

Some of the attendings make it a point to email all of the people they talk to, others may randomly send one off if they're inspired to.

It's never a bad sign though.

Duke definitely gives feedback, at least to some people but I assumed to all. Not sure about Northwestern, however.

I got a letter from Northwestern and so did one of my friends. Anyone else get this letter?

What is the "generic" Hopkins email?

They sent an email from the PD the day of the interview, inviting to a second look and saying we enjoyed meeting you etc. I think I actually talked to somebody who got that email before their interview day was even over.

Northwestern sent me a nice card shortly after the interview, didn't interview at Duke.

Got that letter yesterday.

Also got some communication from Duke a few days after my interview there.

Postcard from Northwestern. Generic letter probably and a journal article from Duke. Generic letter from UCLA. My mom has been getting all these correspondences and she gets flipping excited any time one of these things come in the mail, and then I have to gently remind her it means nothing other than they put me SOMEWHERE on their list.

Unsollicited:
Northwestern - Postcard, Letter
OHSU - Email
Virginia - Letter, 2 Emails, Phone call
Maryland - Letter, Phone call
Tufts - Letter
Penn - Email
Vermont - Email
Loyola - Letter
Rush - Christmas Card
Nebraska - Email

In reponse to my thank you Email/Declaration of Interest s/p interview:
Columbia - Email
WashU - Email
Arizona - Email

... Alas, no love from either Cedars or UMich, my number 1.

Me too. I also got the article from the Duke chair. E-mails from Stanford and Hopkins. Letter from Mayo and UAB. No phone calls from anyone.

Nope none yet.

I wouldn't worry about it. The same people probably got phone calls from all the programs, just like they probably got interviews to every place they applied, but they only match to one. That's what I'm trying to remember and it keeps me from freaking out. So I may not be at a program's top 10 or even top 20, but that doesn't mean I won't match there. I'm sure you'll match to your top 3...most people do, at least that's what I've heard. 🙂

Has anyone heard anything from mcw?

Has anyone heard anything from mcw?

I got a Valentine's card and some heart-shaped truffles. 🙂

I haven't heard from them.

Also, I got the letter from UVa but not the phone call. They're in my top. Shouldn't freak out though, right?

being specific not to brag/be annoying but just cause i think it's more helpful to know if communication is generic or genuine

phone call from mayo-roc pd telling me i was ranked to match (meaning in the past people have matched where i'm ranked but that may not be true this year) still really good to hear because i really like the program

northwestern said they don't call anyone anymore. but i think they send everyone a postcard. i also got a pretty nice and specific letter from them

maryland sent a very very general letter

uic- one interviewer emailed me the next day saying nice things. then the pd who we didn't meet cause he was out of town emailed me saying he heard good things

no love from columbia. the pd did respond in a very stoic manner to a question i sent her via email

people who said they got calls, where did your calls come from?
