I know that for residency, one should take any positive feedback/ranked to match calls with a grain of salt, but do you guys think this applies to fellowship as well? I mean there are 2-4 spots instead of 30 and the departments for the most part are small, so I would think that after an "intimate" interview with essentially the whole dept it would be poor form to lead candidates on...any thoughts? Any experiences? Thanks and good luck to all!:luck:

Seriously guys....70 views and no replies. I know I'm not the only one with this question.

You are not the only one with that question, unfortunately it seems noone has a clear answer 🙂

Point well taken. I thought maybe we could all have a discussion as to what people's takes were on the subject. Dunno if anyone has had contact with past-fellows where this was the case and they did/didn't match...In the end I guess noone will know until it's Match Day. We can put this thread to sleep 🙂

With the ERAS matching algorithm, programs don't have any incentive to rank people higher based upon how much they perceive that you want to match there. If a program really wants you based on your application and/or interview, they'll rank you highly. If they don't want you, they'll rank you lower, but they'll still get you if their higher ranked applicants choose to go elsewhere. And benefit of thank you letters is also all based on the supposition that the program doesn't rank you 20 minutes after your interview day ends.
