I just attended an interview at a school that said we could submit letters of continued interest post-interview and at the end of the interview season. Has anyone had any experience with submitting a letter of interest so early in the cycle? This school is one of my top choices but am I also wondering if submitting a letter this early will impact my chances for a merit-based scholarships if I were to receive one.

Acceptance and financial aid are two very different entities.

At this particular school, merit-based scholarships are given by the Admissions Office while the Financial Aid Office gives out need-based grants. I was primarily thinking about my situation regarding meeit-based scholarships.

They would be fools for believing these things but if they asked for them, let 'em have some.
I can't see how this would have any effect on $ (unless you said you would attend at any cost!).

I also attended an interview recently that said the same thing. When should I submit this letter? This school doesn’t release decisions until March. Maybe send them the letter in December?

It should have no effect on the decision.
If you are waitlisted, let them know at the end of April.

Really? They told me to send it to them after I’m done with my interview season and they’re my first choice. Wouldn’t the end of the interview season be earlier?

How could they possibly be so needy that such missives would actually change their mind about the quality of a particular applicant?
If the end of your application season is the end of April, it could help them plan their waitlist selection, I guess...

Sounds like Mayo. Mayo is needy.

If you are reading Mayo, I still love your school. The subway is dope. Selectives are cool. You are a bit needy, but that’s coo...

This is a school that is either excessively needy, or enjoys seeing applicants grovel.

Because I like to peer into the mindset of pre-meds, could you enlighten us as to why you think that sending in an LOI, which the schools says is OK, would somehow be a detriment to your getting financial aid???
