I was wondering whether or not I had to use AMCAS to update my application to schools? I already had a degree and didn't think I'd be taking any classes when I submitted in June, but then ended up enrolling in a night course as a job benefit in September. Do I(or can I) do this through AMCAS? When I checked the site, it seemed that they would only update information that they already had. Is this correct?

Thanks a bunch,

BR

Hmm, I think you're right, you can only update address, phone number, stuff like that once your application has been submitted and verified. Adding another class would make them recalculate and reverify your GPA and stuff. I would check the AMCAS instructions to make sure though, and also pass along the info to the schools you're interested in, although I'd probably only do this if it was relevant to your prereqs or was something that you'd really like for them to know about. If it's just a class that you're taking for fun, and your apps were already in by the time you started, I don't think it would be a big deal to let it slip.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, because I really don't know what I'm talking about most of the time 😛

Thanks, Troutbum. Only trouble is that they know I'm in the course, so they need the info at some point. I'll bug them about it. 🙂

If you've already turned in secondaries to the schools then you should submit updates/changes directly to the school & refer to your SSN & AAMC ID number

Good to know.

Thanks!
