what med school is this? (i think you forgot to list it)

I didn't forget... for some reason I'm always a little shy about saying where I am, despite my insane number of easily identifiable posts.

Will PM the folks who asked.

At my school for the past 2 years only 2-3 people/yr matched into anesthesia and ALLL of them matched at our home program. This is a little concerning but I hope there just wasn't interest...

Not a school, but might be helpful to know for those AD military folks coming off active duty and then trying to get a civilian position. Here are some of the peeps I know...

MCW
Iowa
Penn St
Hopkins
Pitt
UCSD
Wilford Hall

...For those HPSP folks forced into a GMO tour, just remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel (and it isn't another train). Hang in there and know that non-traditional, military applicants are as competitive as the MS-IVs. Navyflightdoc, feel free to add any to the list.

Mt. Sinai x2

Stanford

I'm going to UCSD (that's probably me in the above list). I know of one more going to Georgetown. I also have a friend at Columbia for PMNR, and UNC for rads. Pretty reasonable/competitive places.

It's not exactly the same thing, but I had several programs (a few in the everyone would agree "top ten") who wanted to know if I would accept a position to start CA-1 this summer, rather than next. I know that those programs didn't all have gapped spots, they seemed more than willing to accept a non-traditional, military-type applicant on short notice.

I would go a little farther than sethco and say I had an advantage over the MS-IV's, from a program's point of view (no offense intended to MS-IV's).

hey, pre-med here debating between UW-Madison and loyola(chicago) for med school. Got into both, just need to decide. Im interested in doing anesthesia. Does anyone know what loyola's or UW's match list was this year? I emailed the admission people at the two schools but have yet to hear back from them.
Thanks!

It's really not a good idea to use match lists to decide where to go. Also anesthesiology is of average competitiveness, so I wouldn't start stressing about it yet. Go wherever is cheapest or has the best location.

I vote UW-Madison for no reason other than state/school pride. Go Badgers!

Seriously, though, Madison >>> Chicago. Blech!
