First, I want to say that I do realize that there have been plenty of threads on the topic of scholarships for pharmacy school students...and I have learned that:
a) There aren't that many
b) Most of them are for students who have already completed their first year or are willing to commit to working for a company for however long.

However, I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a pharmacy school offering an un-published scholarship to a student who is applying, because they really want him/her to attend their school. The reason I am asking is because I've heard of medical schools doing this.

Thanks!

I've heard of it in graduate research programs, but not for PharmD program. That's not to say such a thing exists, but given the competitive nature of admissions, it'd be difficult to imagine a school willing to pay for someone when 100 other people would pay the school to attend. I know that some schools will allow you to teach or be a lab tech and you'd get paid for that, but I don't think that's what you had in mind.

I found this pretty amazing when I read about it a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the University of Central Florida in Orlando is planning to offer FREE tuition and living expenses to its first class of 40 students of its developing medical school! They estimate the annual cost to be about $40,000 per year, of which $20,000 is tuition and the rest living expenses, such as rent.

They are planning to begin classes in Fall 2009.

Too bad there isn't a pharmacy school out there willing to do that!

Here's the link to a news story about it: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...-061207,0,6323575.story?track=mostemailedlink
