hi guys,

im planning to do some postbacc work at san francisco state u. in the upcoming fall. now if i apply as a 2nd bacc student, is it necessary that i complete it? does it look bad on the application if i stop midway? thanks guys

Could you just apply as a second bachelors? I did this and it worked out OK since I only really needed Gen Chem II, O-Chem and Bio.

Why are you doing a post-bacc? Prereqs? Increase your GPA?
I'm continued to attend school under the second bachelor's degree (arts and sciences, bs in biology) after completing my first bs in chemistry. However, this was supposed to be the year I earned that second bs. But at the beginning of the semester my old profs asked me what courses I was taking, my plans since rejection this year, etc etc, and they were shocked to hear that I was enrolled in the baby biology core classes that are needed for another bs. They suggested that I look into the masters program, since a lot of my credits could go to that. A few weeks into the semester (at their advice) I dropped my 200 level courses for 400 level courses in things that are more interesting to me (infectious organisms, parasitology...)

Pretty much, the idea I got from my profs is: you have one bachelor's degree, why the h@ll do you need another? get a masters, it shows you're making progress.

If your GPA is pooopy like mine was, most grad programs will take you if you have a 3.0 after two semesters and did well on the GRE or MCAT. SO in short, don't worry about finishing another bs.
