For those of you with experience on poster competition or conference, did you have to pay for the poster yourself? Wouldn't your PI pay it for you?
I'm just surprised to find out that it costs ~$83 to print a 36''x48'' poster!
OMG....

There is probably some where on campus that you can print it out for free...ask your PI or a grad student.

My PI had a key to a room with a giant poster printer, however, the competition I competed in had a grant to pay for all but like $5 of the poster printing cost if you needed help paying for it.

Most labs/departments have access to a poster printer. At some places, you just print it yourself, and others require you to fill out forms to request a printing. I can't imagine that there's no money in the budget to help you print out one poster...yes, I know they're expensive but frankly it's kind of mean to make students pay out of pocket for that.

See if your university has a GIS lab. They have giant printers that print at a really high quality.

The PI is usually the one who pays for them. If the project you worked on is paid by a grant, then the PI charges the poster from the funding.

If you're unlucky and have one of those cheap PI, then you'll have to make your poster and pay for it. I had one of those...which partially explains why I'm not going to grad school with that PI as an advisor.
