Hi,

I am interviewing for a RA position in a clinical lab soon, and am totally unsure of what type of questions to expect. Can anyone give me some example questions, and also, certain tips or things/facts/skills to emphasize?

Thanks!

This is how the interview for my current job went. It was a fairly easy interview, but a bit harder than an interview after undergrad. She asked me to tell her about my honors thesis and paper I published (what it was about, what I did, what we found), why I wanted to work on her lab, what I was planning to do afterwards and how long I was planning to stay (be careful with this one b/c many places require a 2 year commitment). She then told me a little bit about her research, ad asked me to send her 4 references in the next 48 hours.

ETA: We also discussed her research. Be sure to read as many papers you can from the lab you are interviewing at.

Thank you for the response. I plan on preparing very heavily.

On another note, I am interviewing this week for a clinical internship. The person who is interviewing me has their own private practice with a new approach/therapy module that I would love to hear about. Since I am being interviewed for a position at a hospital, is it appropriate to ask him (out of genuine curiosity) about his approach and if I will see it used at the hospital? I got this information while googling the institution, and him. The information was on HIS therapist site, not the website of the institution, and I feel a little creepy/overstepping my boundaries asking him. Am I just being paranoid?

I think it's fine to ask him that. Everyone googles. It's a verb now. Not creepy. I think it would show that you're familiar with him and his work, and interested in it.
