Has anyone experienced power outage / computer shutdown during MCAT? How did you calm down yourself after this happened? Did it affect your MCAT score significantly?

I am just curious because my school just had a massive power outage for 1 hour.. and I am taking MCAT this Summer in my school's prometric center. 😛

It would be funny if everyone just sit around for 1 hour during MCAT .... >_>

yeah my leg hit the power cord....got a little too comfortable computer turned off had to get the proctor everything was cool...i voided though 🙄

My buddy took it in Houston, TX a few months ago and they had a power outage. It caused him to void. So unfair, if you ask me.

It seems really unlucky and unfair to me... anyone else got some stories? @_@

There have been a few power outages reported on here since I've been a member. What usually happens is that the tests taken at that center are automatically voided. While the people do get a free re-registration, sometimes there aren't any open seats.

When I wrote mine, there was an earthquake. It felt as is the person behind me was erasing violently haha. In the end, they made everyone void and scheduled all the test takers a new date.

...if there is ever a disruption causing everyone to speak during a section of the test when you aren't supposed too, you'll be voiding your MCAT (aka earthquake, power outage etc.)

Yup. I was taking the MCAT, and, half-way through the verbal section, my computer shut-off. I thought I felt chest pains, thinking that I'd have to void. I ran over to the proctor, she turned it back on and I kept going. I thought I got a terrible score, but it turned out fine.

I reported everything and got a letter to send to schools.

Med schools couldn't have cared less about the "test irregularity," though.

I just wanted what a student should do when there was lot of noise and confusion after a power outage which happened yesterday at fair oaks, CA- MCAT test center. When the power came back, there were people talking, including the Proctor, was not even aware test has already restarted. Situation was very unfavorable. Will the Amcas allow dropping the test now and pay for registration of next test?

I never really thought about this until now! With Toronto's unstable hydro grid and the scorching August heat....
