I swear, I got the exact same specialized comments twice:

"Very well written, however, the thesis and synthesis seemed puerile. The structure of the argument is solid; just make sure to add the detail and necessary components. In order to improve make sure your paper skillfully combines an abstract idea with concrete examples to create a comprehensive and thoughtful discussion."

Couple discussion points...
-Immediately I thought, puerile. What does that mean. Are they trying to compensate??
-What are the necessary components? What is this actually telling me specifically about the essay I turned in?
-Then, I got the exact same feedback on my next essay. Woops.

I looked back at my other scores, only 2 out of 6 of the Princeton Review live grader "other comments" appeared to be directed specifically at my essay. Another one called my thesis "embryonic."
Sorry, but if you have time to consider hefty words like, embryonic, then you might have time to overcome the platitudes that are abundant in these comments. grrrrrrr. do they think we don't notice?

does anyone think the overall score - 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, etc. - is accurate? I'm still betting on it.

hey there
I work for PR so I will say, live grader is not a fraud. They are real people who read and grade your essays. They are always trying to get more graders, which you have to certify for it, but I don't have the time for it (though I thought about doing it). You may have gotten the same person grading your essays though, I can't comment on that.
good luck with the MCAT:luck:
PS I spent like noooo time preping for the essay when I took the MCAT (I took Kaplan) and it worked out fine for me. Focus more on the science and verbal section than the writing.

Just to expand on Noeljan's comment, I only practiced the writing section on my very last practice test. On the real thing I thought I did awful on the section but ended up with a P. The writing section is weighed least out of the other sections and some places don't even care what the score was.

Maybe they have some pre-written comments that they can choose from to apply to your essay? I remember report cards back in the day were like this...

the TPR grader may not be a fraud, but it is grossly inaccurate. when i took the TPR course i got 3s on all my essays (and one 4 on my last practice test). i didn't really care cause the essays aren't supposed to be worth anything anyways, but ended up getting a T on the real MCAT. go figure.

don't pay attention to their comments. just make sure you know what you're doing and have tons of examples.
