Is it a good choice to take a practice MCAT without all the prereqs?

I found out about a free practice MCAT being offered over my spring break at a nearby university. I was wondering if there are any downsides to taking it without having finished orgo (I'm in orgo II now) or physics.

I thought it would be interesting to get a feel for how the test works, generally, given the fact that the MCAT will have different content when I officially go to take it. I figure the rigor of the questions probably won't be that different, so it would be good to know what I'm getting myself into.

So are there any downsides to this? Will my score be recorded somewhere for people to find? Can I just void my score and be done with it? I've heard mixed opinions on this subject so I'd like to see what SDN thinks.

Totally, go for it. I took the MCAT and realized that I could self study the material I had not taken courses for (other than in high school) given the format they were presented in. Don't be afraid if you score is very low. But yeah, no downside unless you get spooked. Then again, if you get spooked you will study that much harder 😉

I don't see any reason not too. Is the practice MCAT modeled after the old or new MCAT? If it is the old MCAT keep in mind that your test will be very different.

I'm assuming it's the old MCAT. I just figured the rigor of the exam can't be all that different. It should be the same difficulty level... Right? Haha

I actually wouldn't assume that. I'm guessing that the new one will be harder, but the score distribution will be the same since it's done by percentile. I could be wrong though.

But either way just take the test, nothing to lose really. Your low score will probably just scare you into studying more, which is a good thing!

Alright, well thanks! I appreciate the advice. (I wasn't confident in saying it was the same rigor, for the record haha. One could hope...)
