Bits of this info is scattered around, so I hope you don't kill me if I'm being redundant (yes I did search it). 2 questions:

1. I'm planning on taking my first practice test in about a week. This will be before any boards studying has taken place to get a baseline. If you took a test as a baseline, how much improvement were you able to make for the real thing, and in how much time?

2. I've got 2 vouchers from my school for NBME exams, we get to choose the version. Which 2 versions would you pick?

Thanks a bunch

1) I'm taking the test Saturday, so I can't speak for my actual score. However, between Form 5 before starting to study and Form 6 today I have gone up 75 points. Needless to say, I started low which seems to make it easier to jump quickly. I've been studying for 7 weeks.

2) I vote for Forms 5 and 6. I've completed all of them and these are definitely (in my opinion) the hardest and most detail oriented. Forms 1 and 2 are much more "regurg"/key word oriented, 3 has hardcore mole bio...:luck::xf:

Thanks for the info. Congrats on the score jump! That gives me some hope, as I have to assume I wouldn't pass the test where I"m at now, and I'd like a decent score, so it's good to hear that it's doable. Also, good to know about the NBMEs, thanks.

Everyone else please feel free to comment as well, I appreciate the insight and multiple opinions.

How long does it take for an NBME to be completed?

4 hours each if you do not take breaks.

My vote is for 5 and 6. I did both of those and predicted my score within 1 point (I scored the same on both). My logic is that newer is probably most up to date with the form and content of the real exam. I had a couple similar or exact questions from the NBME.
