Practicing in Canada after education in US

I'm currently a canadian looking to head back to canada after graduating from a US dental school. The girl I'm currently dating also happens to be in dental school but is an american citizen. How difficult/how long will it take for a young professional and potentially a spouse to practice in Canada and get citizenship? Any input is appreciated as I'm completely new to all of this!
