what are some available opportunities for a dds to practice in europe for a few years after school? does the health service corps offer anything like this? also, i assume possibilities in europe exist on military bases- however, do you need to be involved with the military during dental school in order to utilize these opportunities, or can you work on a european base as a civilian? what would be the benefits and drawbacks of doing this?

thank you!! i am just looking to explore my options. i want to practice somewhere exciting and different as when i graduate (2012) i will really have no strings attached and would like to experience new things in life as i enter the field of dentistry and gain experience.

I've only done a little research on the subject, but I know that there are civilian dentists on bases in Germany. I don't know how many positions there are (I think it's limited), but a classmate's sister did that for a few years, and when I searched it online I found a listing for "civilian dentist" on a military page. The link is no longer valid, but you might be able to link to other job listings from it, so here it is

Good luck!
