Hello,
Ok, so my school got a new program in which they offer different scholarships to ppl from MA ( which I am) who will agree to practice in under served areas in MA after graduation. Its a brand new program, and I need to decide on this kinda fast, so any advice would be appreciated.

It goes something like this. If you agree to practice for 2 years you'll get 20-40K. for 3 years its 40-60K, for 4 60-80K and for 5 its 80-100K. Considering that I am going to attend a very expensive dental school and intend to practice in MA it might be worth it to eliminate part of my tuition. Also, I am interested in working in underserved areas part time or volunteer some of my time after graduation. So overall the terms of the program are ideal for me. The problem with this is that I don't know if it makes sense financially, and here I need an advice. How much can I expect to make practicing in these areas? a friend who is a third year told me that its not worth it cause I won't be able to make more than 80K out of school if i'll practice there. Salary.com says that its about 124K ( which would make worth it being in this program).

Is any dentist here practicing in underserved areas and can give me some input of what I can realisticly expect by being in one of these places? can anyone direct me to any other sources where I can find this information?

I just don't want to get out of dental school and end up making 80K ( which is almost what i am making now) and pay 200K in loans.

thanks for reading!

U are already making 80k??

is this relevant to my question?

Hey there. I'm from the Berkshires and am just starting my 4th year in d-school now. I'm not really sure what parts of MA they're considering high-need, but I have a good idea about Berkshire county, at least. I probably won't be moving back there after graduating, but I'll definitely stay in New England.
