I would like to know the requirements to work in Alberta as a family physician.

I have been practicing medicine in Israel for 24 years, and will move to Calgary, Alberta next year for a period of one or two years.

The body that will license you to practice medicine is the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Their website details the requirements for unrestricted licence:

Candidates must have:

1) An acceptable medical degree
2) The Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC), and
3) Completion of appropriate postgraduate training as demonstrated by certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCP or FRCS)

More information here: http://www.img-canada.ca/en/provinces/alberta/index.html

I have no first-hand experience doing this; perhaps someone more knowledgeable can comment on whether it is realistic to expect to accomplish this in one to two years.
