Hey everybody,

I was wondering what you guys thought would be better as a sub I before a pm&r away. Currently I am signed up for an IM sub I but could do a neurocritical care one. The Neuro may give me a little more free time but not sure how applicable it will be. Thank you!

Neurology is very applicable. I suggest doing that and learning as much as you can. Be able to do a good neurological exam and learn how to interpret it.

I think a floor IM month would be much more helpful then neurocritical care, and will also be better preparation for internship as well. It's nice to be exposed to the neuro ICU (and MICU as well), but what will help you the most is honing your general medicine skills as well as doing the rotation where you're given more responsibility for patients (which could be either, as it'll be specific to the rotations and attendings you'd work with).
