Just wanted to run my situation by here to see what the general consensus was. I am a sophmore right now and I will have all my pre-req's for medschool done this year and I'm taking my mcats this summer. I really would like to apply junior year and attempt to matriculate my "senior" year but if I do this I wont have a bachelors degree completed. Is this shunned by the schools? I know that having a bachelors degree is not required, but that the vast majority (usually 98%) have attained one before giong to med school.

I think your application (numbers, experiences, LORs) would have to be very good in order to be considered...

A year would make that much of a difference that they would scrutinize my application more than someone else with a bachelors?

I think so. A lot of schools say that they strongly recommend holding a Bachelors Degree. I'm not saying that it can't be done or that it won't work for you--I just think it will be harder to gain acceptance than if you had a degree. I have a friend who didn't want to spend all the time in undergrad--but she just graduated in three years and went on to med school (but she still had a degree).

Good luck.
