Please forgive me if a similar question has been asked before, I checked the forums and could not find what I was looking for. I am a pre-dental student hoping to take the DAT in the spring. I have taken all of my general biology and chemistry classes, and I will be finished with the Organic Chemsitry courses after autumn semester. I have also taken anatomy. During autumn semester I am trying to pick an additional science course which will be the most beneficial to me on the DAT. Does anybody have any feedback as to whether biochemistry, microbiology or physiology would be the most beneficial?

I would have to agree that physio is your best bet. Though I honestly think any of the three would be good for you. Biochem for me was nice because at my undergrad we went through more general chemistry and organic chemistry in the class.

I agree, definitely physiology. If I had to pick which class prepared me best for the DAT, it would be physiology.

Agreed. I do wish I had microbiology though. But it definitely wouldn’t have precedence over physiology

Honestly I feel physiology is essential to take before the DAT. I wouldn't have done as well on my Bio section of the DAT without it.

You don't need Micro or Biochem though, I did just fine without having exposure to those classes.

I think it's up to you. Any would be helpful. I didn't (and still have not taken physio or anatomy). However, I had biochem, microbio, and zoology prior to my exam and did just fine. Just be sure you choose a course load that is manageable FOR YOU.

I don't think any of them are all that necessary. I never took a physiology class in my life and taught myself all of the required physiology for the DAT in a week. Take whatever interests you the most.

Thank you so much everyone for your thoughtful replies! I have found them so helpful. I am going to look into physiology. I wasn’t sure if the anatomy class I took somewhat filled that gap or not. I do expect the bio portion of the exam to be the hardest for me.
