You should choose a name thats easily recognized by students looking for a dental club. Ex. Texas Pre-Dental Society

Wait, you're starting a club or a band? I could do this all day! 🙂

The American Student Dental Association works, you can contact the national chapter to start your own undergrad chapter. We've got a chapter of ASDA at UC Irvine.

I contacted them and they no longer start pre-dental chapters. I go to Chapman! not that far away.

Oh you're kidding! That totally sucks. I know Chapman is a really great school too. Well, I really liked Students Against Calculus, I LOL'd a few times when I read that one.

they all say pre-dent society/club, nothing really eye catching.

What do you guys think about AC/DC? My schools name is Chapman University.

Associated(or another letter that starts with A) Chapman Dental Students. instead of a lightening bolt I put a toothbrush hahaha.

Clever, sort of. Except you won't be Dental students -- you will be pre-Dental students. And "Students" doesn't start with "C." It's kind of a square peg in a round hole (or a polarized plug in a... nevermind)... Amalgamated Chapman Future Dentists Club (with the toothbrush shaped like an "F") would be a mouthful. (Amalgamate means: "to mix or merge so as to make a combination; blend; unite; combine"). Or perhaps "Allied?"

Personally, I think it's too much of a stretch. I think simplicity is the key: Chapman Pre-Dental Society/Association/Club. You can always make shirts and posters with little advertising gimmicks like AC/DC. No matter how much you want to use a particular motif, sometimes it just doesn't work. Keep in mind, too, that not everyone is an AC/DC fan, and just because you are, doesn't mean that logo might not alienate people. It's also potentially copyright infringement. Good luck with whatever you decide!

(By the way, the sentence about whether you were asking for band names was a joke, because all my names sounded like band names to me).

I was just throwing ideas out there but thanks for everyones input!

AC/DC would so totally work with Associated Collegiates for Dental Care! Awesome! Haha

In my opinion, the name of a pre-dental organization should be direct, easily recognized by interested undergraduates, and professional.

This is a pre-preprofessional organization, I would refrain from gimmicks and cheesy titles. If you are to frame this organization as a serious and vital resource for pre-dental students and admissions officers, I would suggest a formal name.

At my school we were previously titled as ASDA, but we were recommended by admissions at UTHSC-San Antonio to adopt a more easily recognized, yet professional name. "Texas Pre-Dental Society" may not be creative or interesting, but its purpose is for interested members to easily find this org as a resource and also serve as a formal title for resumes and applications.

I was being very tongue in cheek there as were the last few posts, sorry you didn't pick up on that. I don't think anyone would seriously consider naming their pre-dental group AC/DC, no matter how awesome it would be, especially with the lightning bolt/tooth brush logo.

Also, ASDA isn't as recognizable? Every single dental school has a chapter of ASDA, they're like the biggest dental student club in America.

Lol. ok just making sure. ASDA as the abbreviation isn't as recognizable when listed in our school's organization bank("American Student Dental Association" is too long when registering student orgs at my school). Yeah its a big organization for students already in dental school, but these four letters aren't as easily discernable for undergrads.

Ahh, I see what you mean, that does make sense.
