I am a pre-dental student and I am wondering what organizations I should or can become a member of that would both look good on my application as well as it would be beneficial for me with current events, research, and establishing contacts or connections.

Thanks.

I would become a member of your college's predental society and ,if you have time, be actively involved. Research is not all that necessary to most of the schools, however, I don't think it really matters what the discipline is(i.e. Chemistry, Biology etc.) I would talk to my bio or chem department about that. As far as establishing contacts, the best way is to phone a few dental offices and shadow them. Also, call the schools you will be applying to and ask if you can take a look around or go on a formal tour. But remember, the main thing that is going to look good on your app is grades and DATs. All the other crap is a waste of time if you don't have those two key ingredients.

robliski,
there are a lot more things than looking good at your local pre-dental society.
I am in San Diego. They have a pretty good predental society at UCSD. Everybody is friendly and willing to help everybody else. The club activities are available to everybody. PM me if you would like to learn more.
I am aware there is an ASDA chapter predental club at UCI. I dont have it with me, but I could get u info if you want.
I am sure there are things in LA as well. There is a 80 hrs volunteer program for undergradutes at UCLA.

may we know if your current status? when will u be applying?
