I was wondering if anyone knows of ANY type of organization/program or opportunities for pre-dental students, especially for people in the Los Angeles Area. I know of UCLA's volunteer program, UCSF, and LLU's programs. Does anyone know of any other opportunities? (A website link would also be very helpful, because I've been searching for days!) Thanks I really appreciate it.

I would highly recommend the 'Gateway to Dentistry' program at UMDNJ:

Come on by. ASDA has a predental mentor program. I think we will kick it off once winter quarter starts =) I will get more involved with that very soon.

And ya, we have the predental voluntary program. I know some of my classmates did that before and they know everybody in the clinics already. I envy u guys. For some odd reasons, undergrad here get more experience than D1!!! http://uclasod.dent.ucla.edu/admissions/index.asp?id=345#clinic
go all the way to the bottom: volunteer program

and dont forget our predental denture class:

more classes will show up for next year.

that's all i know. sorry not much info for usc and llu. except i know llu has a predental course as well in the summer. but u have to dig it up.

Doesnt USC have a bus that visits underserved areas. I would give them a call. I hear they are always looking for volunteers

Like a poster before me stated, try to get involved in your local ASDA chapter at your institution. They usually have lots of dental related activities and opportunities to shadow, research, ect. It also looks good to show you are a member in one of the premier dental associations in America. Good luck. 😀

I was an intern in NYC with Dr. Jeff Dorfman. I thought it was an excellent dental internship program for pre-dental students. There are a lot of students there that make it a lot more fun -- especially going out in NYC after work.
You can find more about it at: http://www.nycdentist.com/student
