Come on guys, no one has heard from any of the NYC programs including Columbia, Sinai, NYU, Cornell?

I've gotten a number of emails from the Columbia residents, and one from an interviewer. Mostly answering questions and such. No official "you've been ranked to match" though.

In response to something you guys wrote? What did it say and who was it from? I'm sad I didn't receive one of these, although Cornell is my #7 or 8 maybe.

no it was a spontaneous phone call letting me know it was my decision whether or not to go there - if it 7 or 8 why do you care?

Its nice to be desired, even by the ugly chicks?

Seems like a few of the big name programs cut down their intern spots by 2-3 this year. Cornell, Mt. Sinai, Duke, UPenn, BWH. Hopkins stayed at 35, it used to be around 39-40 3-4 years ago. I wonder why? Financial issues?

Just a guess, but it could be non-match offers to IMGs.

I could be wrong, but I don't think too many of the top programs give any out of match offers. I think it happens in the fellowship match fairly frequently even at top programs, but not often in the IM match at top programs.

Yes - I havent heard of most big name programs - especially the ones you have described giving out of match offers to IMGs. If at all it happens, its very infrequent, and probably for the one candidate who worked with someone influential internally for many years.

Financial issues seems more likely.
