Just curious as to what y'all thought about the following class schedule. I work full time and am going back to school to knock out the pre-req's starting next year. I'm wrapping up my MBA this year, that's why the schedule starts next year.

===Spring 2005===
CHEM 1411 General Chemistry I (4)
BIOL 1406 Gen Biology I (4)

===Summer I 2005===
CHEM 1412 General Chemistry II (4)

===Summer II 2005===
BIOL 1407 Gen Biology II (4)

===Fall 2005===
CHEM 2423 Organic Chemistry I (4)
PHYS 1401 Introductory General Physics (4)

==Spring 2006===
PHYS 1402 Introductory General Physics II (4)
CHEM 2425 Organic Chemistry II (4)

===Summer I 2006===
BIOL 2416 Genetics (4)

===Summer II 2006===
BIOL 2401 Anatomy and Physiology I (4)

*** MCAT in Mid-August 2006 ***

Contingency Plan: /* Fall 2006 */
Other classes?
BIOL 2420 Microbiology (4)
BIOL 2402 Anatomy and Physiology II (4)
MCAT PREP Class?

I really wouldn't worry about A&P.

Biochemistry would be a worthwhile course. And I would be wary of taking a science course during a summer session, but only you know your capabilities. Better to take longer and get better grades than rush and do worse.

Definitely get a physiology class in there, but I'd personally rather you take an upper division phys class rather than the lower division one it looks like you are taking.

Although maybe that is upper? I can't tell.

Microbio would be good too.

The course description says that this is for pre-med students, however they do have a similar class which is calculus based and is 2425/2426. Though the latter is recommended for engineers/scientist. I'll ask the advisor. Thanks for bringing it up.

Still torn between the comments I'm hearing about A&P / MicroB. Realistically, though I have plenty of time to decide. Who knows El Paso may be open by then .... ha ha 😀

Your plan looks great. 👍 Try to fit in Microbio during the Fall of '05 or Spring of '06, it'll help strengthen your Biological base for the MCAT. Good luck! 🙂

dude, u have an MBA and now going for a MD. Awesome!

I think you should keep the anatomy and physiology class. My MCAT had so much anatomy in the biology section: two kidney passages, an ear passage, and a muscle passage. The rest was genetics (very little o-chem). I think the A&P class could only help.

just out of curiousity, what made you to change your mind and switch from business to medicine?? But good luck, looks like a very ambitious schedule.

Thanks. MD/MBA programs are actually fairly common. You do the first two years of med school, take a break and do your MBA and then come back to finish the last two years of med school.

Personally, I'd rather not break the flow of the MD program, that's why I'm getting it done before. Additionally, an MBA from a top 20, opens a lot of doors and provides an extensive network of professionals you can tap as you move up in your medical career.

Since I came from a technical background, the business foundation obviously provides a competitive advantage and on a personal level makes me more rounded (although Krispy Kreme helped make me 8lbs more rounded too) ha aha 😀
