Hi I want to either go to UC Irvine or UC San Diego as a Public Health major. I was wondering if this is a hard major to get a good GPA with thanks! Also, will it look bad if I took most of my science classes for med school at a community college??

I can't tell you if it's a hard major to get a good GPA in because that's highly variable with each individual. However, if you attend UCI or UCSD and opt to take most of your science classes at a community college, it will inevitably raise a few eyebrows. Is there a reason why you can't take them at UCI or UCSD?

Because the science classes are pre reqs for public health for ex. gen chem 1 and 2 and organic chem 1 and 2....

You can't realistically expect someone to do all prerequisites and major in 2 years time. Community college will NOT hurt you if you perform well at a 4 year and on the mcat.

In short yes it will look bad to take most of your prerequisites in a community college. Why? because adcoms will think you are trying to take the "easy route" to medical school. I've contacted many schools about this situation and they all said the same.

My advice take Bio 1 and Chem 1 while in community college, then do the rest in the university. Also take upper level science classes! Good luck 🙂

Many CA applicants transfer to UC's from CC. We don't hold this against them. We value their determination. OP just needs to continue to excel in their chosen major and do well on the MCAT.
You may be referring to students in UC who take their "hard" classes in the summer at CC. Even this is overlooked with a strong MCAT.

I can't just take one of each because they are pre reqs for my major. I need to take them in order to transfer..

hey gyngyn have you had experience with this before?
