HEY! I HAVE A 3.2 SCIENCE GPA AND A 3.4 OVERALL GPA AND I HAVENT HAD MY MCAT BUT IM SURE I WILL SCORE ABOVE AVERAGE EVEN THO MY GPA DOESNT SHOW THAT. I AM AN AFRICAN AMERICAN TEXAS RESIDENT AND IN MY JUNIOR YEAR IN UNDERGRAD WITH HUNDREDS OF HOURS IN VOLUNTEER AND SHADOW EXPERIENCE. I WILL GRADUATE NEXT YEAR AND WILL TAKE MY MCAT TWO MONTHS BEFORE THEN AND I AM DO NOT WANT TO WAIT TO GET INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL THE FOLLOWING YEAR AFTER GRADUATION WHILE CARIBBEAN SCHOOLS ACCEPT PPL THE SAME YEAR THEY APPLY. MY QUESTIONS ARE...

* IF I APPLY TO ST. GEORGE'S, SABA AND ROSS MEDICAL SCHOOL AND WHEN I GRADUATE WHAT ARE MY CHANCES FOR A GENERAL SURGERY, PLASTIC INTERATED AND THORACIC INTEGRATED RESIDENCY?

* IS OSTEOPATHIC OUT OF STATE MEDICAL SCHOOLS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THESE 3 CARRIBEAN MEDICAL SCHOOLS (SGU,SABA,RUSM)?

* SHOULD I WAIT TO GET INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL THE NEXT YEAR OR JUST APPLY TO THE 3 CARIBBEAN SCHOOLS THE SAME YEAR AND GET IN?

*WILL BEING A DO HURT MY CHANCES AT A THESE COMPETITIVE SURGERY RESIDENCY'S THAN BEING AN IMG?

Questions
#1 Why is this so urgent? I assume that you didn't get your GPA overnight or that these decisions need to be made urgently.
#2 Any particular reason you need to write in all caps? Is your caps lock key stuck? From a practical standpoint, it makes reading your post more difficult. From an image standpoint, it makes you look juvenile.
#3 Words like "havent" and "Im" are contractions and should have something called an apostrophe in them. For example it should be written as "haven't" or "I'm". Once again, from a practical standpoint, it makes reading your post more difficult to not have reasonable grammar. From an image standpoint, most of us consider it a blessing to have the opportunity to go to or have been to medical school, people are far more likely to help you if you look less like an idiot.
#4 How can you be, "sure" that your MCAT will be 'above average'? While there are certainly exceptions to this, people's past academics predict their future performance pretty well.
#5 There is a feature on forums called the search bar. You may be familiar with it from websites like Yahoo, Google, Bing, or even AOL search. Most of your questions demonstrate a complete lack of any knowledge or research on your part. Once again, people are far more likely to help you or even be able to help you if you expend some energy figuring some stuff out on your own.
#6 Why are you insistent on applying as early as possible to medical school when you don't know even the most basic things about applying to medical school and the potential downsides?

Help
#7 In general, for residency spots, US MD >> US DO >> FMG >>> IMG.
#8 Statistically speaking, Caribbean medical school students are bad students. This is reflected in their piss poor residency matches. Even if you are academically gifted and actually finish school, integrated surgical subspecialties will largely not even look at your application coming out of the Caribbean.
#9 Apply once, apply well. Delaying a year or even two in order to get into a US MD school is well worth it given the significant limitations of going anywhere else. Certainly going DO is perfectly fine, but you will be hurt come match time for many specialties and to be honest, it is not even worth discussing everything else.
#10 You have a 3.4/3.2, no MCAT, difficulty communicating, no substantive production outside of the classroom. The only bright part of your application is being a URM, not exactly something to celebrate given that it is one of the few things completely outside of your control. In short, you need to mature, grow up, and while you are at it maybe learn a little bit about medicine and the process of becoming a doctor.

Edit:
#11 I thought I was being a little harsh, but after reading all of the posts made while I was writing, appropriate.

wait next year. two new schools are open ut Austin and ut something. They'll give free admission cuz I think no body want to be trials.

Near zero

PLASTIC INTERATED AND THORACIC INTEGRATED RESIDENCY?
Zero

* IS OSTEOPATHIC OUT OF STATE MEDICAL SCHOOLS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THESE 3 CARRIBEAN MEDICAL SCHOOLS (SGU,SABA,RUSM)?
Who cares? It is way less expensive than getting an MD degree and not being able to get a residency (and subsequently, a job).

* SHOULD I WAIT TO GET INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL THE NEXT YEAR OR JUST APPLY TO THE 3 CARIBBEAN SCHOOLS THE SAME YEAR AND GET IN?
For the love of God wait.

*WILL BEING A DO HURT MY CHANCES AT A THESE COMPETITIVE SURGERY RESIDENCY'S THAN BEING AN IMG?
It will hurt much (much much much..) less than being an IMG.

yea i figured the caps would piss off a lot of people on here haha sorry.. this is an internet post not a english essay, my contractions and writing shouldn't really bother u.
no I'm not an idiot and I knew majority of the answers to the questions I asked. that is why I asked for your advice. no need to act like an internet thug because I'm sure you would have a different choice of words if in person, thank you for your time and have a Happy Easter

When you post on a pre-professional forum requesting urgent advice, there is a reason expectation that your writing is at least somewhat professional. Especially if you "figured it would piss off a lot of people on here" when you decided to write in all caps.

You can get some great advice on this forum if you avoid rubbing people the wrong way.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You lack basic common sense. This is very basic logical and critical analysis. If you want help with something or answers to questions, you can knowingly act like a child and get a poor response (exemplified by your second post here) or you can spend the minimal required effort to make things more readable. There are reasons for writing things in proper English. Your writing is simply hard to read and detracts heavily from your post.

And no, I would use these exact same words in person as I did. My identity while not advertised is certainly not secret on here. People from my hospital know exactly who I am on here and many on here know who I am. Being critical of someone is not being "thug". Pointing out basic logic gaps and helping you understand that you are asking the wrong questions and are a terrible communicator is a sincere attempt at helping someone that clearly needs a lot of help before attempting to join a profession.

"I knew majority of the answers to the questions I asked. that is why I asked for your advice." How is that logic going for you?

I will not say it's choledocolithiasis yet, but it looks like we have some meteorism in the setting of a recent cholecystectomy. Stay strong, general surgery.

your posts make me cringe at the idea that you're even thinking of going into medicine in the near future.

your future self will be thankful for the anonymity that SDN grants you.

What exactly makes you so sure you'll do better than average on the MCAT?

If you knew the answers before you posted then why post at all?

Why post in all caps? You knew it would piss us off but did it anyway?

So many perplexing decisions. You're an all-star, OP.
