I`m currently a sophomore in college. My first semester was really horrible with Withdrawals & Pass/fail grades. So, now I`m working on my GPA and pre-med requirements for med school. But, is it true that when the medical school admissions committee review your transcript & GPA and they see a drastic increase in grades over the years, are they more likely to consider you as a potential candidate for med school? And, how bad does Withdrawals affect your chances of being admitted to med school considering that you only used it during one semester?

You still have plenty of time to create a good application. Many of us had rough semesters, and they're MUCH better to have in the beginning, when you can blame it on youthful indiscretion, rather than junior year, where they will blame it on laziness (or worse)

Bottom line: now is the time to start striving for the As and Bs (and As), learn the sciences well, and do well on the MCAT. Hope isn't lost yet... in fact, it isn't even close to lost.

Chin up!
