To the pre Med students majoring in hard science. I know how difficilt your major seems, I was just wondering if you believe that if yyou switched your undergraduate major to nursing how do you think you would do . My question is do you believe your bio/chemical degree that prepares you for Med school would be more challenging than nursin school . I just want to hear your thoughts. If you believe you would be prepared explain why. I believe that premed students would ve prepared since their major prepares them for med schoool. Some say nursing and medicine are different things so its an apples and oranges situation.

After re-reading your post I'm not really sure what you are asking. Nursing school is different than medical school. The people are different, the goals are different. The subset of the population that goes to nursing school is different than that of medical school, with some, but little overlap. There will be few that can offer valued opinions on this topic because the number of pre-meds that know what nursing school is like is extremely limited.

I have seen a couple of nursing school curriculums. They remind me of introductory classes in pre-med and the first two years of medical school. Focus on content and regurgitation. I think most pre-meds who excel in those classes (the stereotypical neurotic) would do extremely well in most of the nursing school curriculum. On the other hand, there is no equivalent in nursing school for Physics 411 (hardest class that I took in UG, and required for me) or some other upper division course. There were few physics majors that could excel in the class, never mind some random drop in. From that perspective hard science majors are more challenging.

Your opinion is much appreciated. That's all I want different opinions. I also wanted to know how do you think you would do if your major was switched to nursing. You say that its like the first two years oof med school with alot of regurgitation. What are yor thoughts on clinicals most UG majors dont require that

Personally, if I was forced to switch to nursing I would have left school. I didn't go to undergrad to memorize things and regurgitate them so I could jump through hoops. If you forced me to stay in school I would probably have been in the top 1/4 of the class, but not much higher. I wouldn't study very much and would do other things with my time.

But this is just a guess, considering that I didn't know what nursing school was back then.

What would be the point of clinicals in UG for a biology or chemistry major? Nothing useful to that major would be taught by having clinicals, and the clinical rotations in med school and residency is what actually teaches a doctor how to be a doctor, so what would the point of clinicals during undergrad be?

Good too know. I started laughing when you said youd quit school. It just shows ypur ddetermination to be an Md
