Hey guys!

I'm currently a sophomore at a community college here in Dallas, TX. I am planning to transfer to either SMU or UTDallas. I wanted to know if anybody has attended either one as a pre medical student. I want to know which one do you think is better for the people interested in attending Medical School. If you could please compare both. I have done my research online, but I really would want to know somebody that is or was actually attending the school. Thanks so much for your help!

I currently attend SMU and am applying this June. Both are good for pre-med. Differences in pre-med area aren't that great. Good faculty, good opportunities for research. As far as pre-med curriculum, SMU's biology and chemistry departments are excellent. Physics not so much. But only two classes there for the pre-med subset. Though I am biased, SMU is without a doubt much more prestigious, higher ranked, has a larger endowment, etc. and an awesome location in the heart of Big D. If cost is no factor, I would say SMU. But honestly, and I think everyone here would probably agree, getting into med school has way more to do with your grades and MCAT and not the school you attend; i.e., as long as you do well in school, the school doesn't matter so much. If you were going into business to work for a prestigious firm like McKinsey or BCG or going for a highly-competitive MBA program or maybe law school, I would say SMU. Hope that helps.
