Hey everyone i have a question regarding pre-pharmacy course work. Recently, i've been looking around at various schools and trying to decide which to apply to. I've run across the prereq of General Biology (8 credit hours) on many different schools. My first question is what do you study in general biology II? My unversity ONLY offers general biology I (which is only 4 credit hours). Is general biology II a class you'd normally study ecology, physiology, plants/animals? Which class should i take in order to compensate for a lack of general biology II? Should i call the pharmacy program directly and ask them about my situation?

Also this pharmacy school i'm applying to requires Anatomy/physiology (8 credit hours). However, at my unveristy the only anatomy class offered that is 4 credit hours is comparative vertebrate anatomy (which is reserved for animal biology majors usually). Do i need to take this course or would the pharmacy school accept Human anatomy (3 credit hours) of anatomy and 4 hours of physiology (7 hours total instead of 8).

Thanks for the help everyone. Sorry if my questions are too specific; i'm new to this whole process, and i'm not sure how lenient pharmacy schools are regarding credit hour transfers for certain courses.

For my undergraduate institution, the "general" bio classes were Intro to Molelcular Cell Bio and Intro to Ecology and Evolution, so you could be right about taking an ecology class for your second course. Neither of mine were called general bio though, so who knows. Regarding Anatomy and Phys, I've seen a number of schools say that one term of anatomy and one term of physiology will suffice. If you have a specific school you're looking at, I would suggest emailing the admissions office with your questions. I've had two admissions offices ask me to fax my transcripts, and they did a preliminary transcript evaluation for me. They were happy to do so! This was very helpful, as my undergraduate credits were not standard semester credits (a full course load was 4 credits per semester), so it helped to clear up my questions.

Good luck!

Thanks for the Reply! I hate how my unversity handles biology courses. Ecology has a zoology or botany prerequisite at my university. Basic Evolution was covered in my general biology I course so i guess i'll just have to call them and ask which biology i need to take. Thanks again!

I would call the schools. Some are VERY picky about what they will take. If they only want BIO 2 (3 credits plus 1 lab credit) maybe you can take it online. Good :luck: !
