Hi all,

I'm new to the site. I'm a NC resident, Non-Traditional student, been working in outside sales for a medical device company for the past 5 years following graduation. Decided last year to follow my dream of becoming a PT and started taking the required Pre-Req's at my local CC, during the evenings, while continuing to work full time. I plan on applying to all of my in-state programs as early as possible to take advantage of early admissions. I will have all but 2 pre-reqs complete, which I will finishing in Fall.

My research shows that the majority of schools are fine with this arrangement, however I was hoping those of you with experience with PTCAS and the application process would share with me how the transcript process is handled with my Summer and Fall classes that I wont be able to have an official transcript for by July.

Thank you so much!

Hello,

When you e-submit your application in PTCAS you cannot add or delete any classes that you put in. There is one date in PTCAS called academic updates which opens in December, during this time you can update your application and add or delete any classes and add what grade you obtained. Submit your application through PTCAS ASAP to be as competitive as possible.

When you enter your coursework into PTCAS, you can classify classes as "in-progress" or "planned". Schools then see that you are either currently taking or planning to take these classes. They will not be on your transcript yet.
Then when the Academic Update window opens in December you can update your coursework with grades and send updated transcripts to PTCAS, which then get distributed to schools.

I highly recommend you wait until you do have a summer transcript to apply. Otherwise you will apply with that summer course still outstanding. It's much better to wait for that grade just by delaying a few weeks.

I disagree. I found applying early worked well for me. I sent my application in during the summer when I still had A&PII, Physics II, Chemistry I, Chemistry II & Lab in progress. This wasn't an issue for any of my schools.
