I still have 3 more pre-req for pharm. school??should I apply yet? I have organic chem I and calc. that I am taking this semester and organic II I will be taking in the spring. My GPA is 2.8 I am hoping that with the next two class if I do well it will push my GPA up. I know that the school I am looking at requires a 3.0 GPA and some people say if it doesn't meet a 3.0 GPA, schools wont' look at it???I just took the PCAT and register to retake the next one for OCT. already just in case I didn't do well. Any suggestions?????

I honestly think that you should apply because it doesn't hurt to try. If you feel that it's risky, only apply to your top schools. I'm somewhat in the same position you are. I'm almost done with my prereqs but I'm also working on getting my degree. It stinks though because all pharm school require different things! For instance, one school I'm applying to requires 15 credit hours of humanities and social behavior classes. 🙁 I wish there was just one set of prereqs for all schools. It's hard balancing a decent gpa with HARD upper level courses needed for your degree.

Anyways, got off track... yes, apply! Study hard and bring your gpa up to a 3.0 : )

hey im new to this forum i was just wondering is it better to have a bachelors before i apply to pharm school? or should i just apply straight out of my community college?

In response to OP: if the school lists 3.0 as their requirement for admission, more than likely they will not look at the application with 2.8 GPA. Think about it-they talk about minimal GPA, and many people who apply have much higher grades than minimum. Consult the school, most of them will answer truthfully. Of course, you can still apply, but why to waste your time and money? I don't suggest to abandon your dream of pharmacy school. Concidering what you will find out after talking with admissions, you might want to devote some time to raising your GPA and apply later.
In response to the question about community college: it depends on how well you do at school and how good are the other parts of your application. You have to have very high GPA if you apply from community college. If this is not the case, I would recommend getting bachelors at university and doing well there. Other parts of application: PCAT, volunteer, and other extracurricular activities are also important. There are some schools that frown on community college classes altogether. Again, talk to individual schools that you consider.
