Pre-reqs at different schools

Hi

Due to a family circumstances, I have to move from one city to another which means I have to attend to different school as well. I'm currently taking O-Chem I and General Bio 1 at community college, but would it look bad on my application if I take O-Chem 2 and General Bio 2 at a different community college?

Has anyone else here done the same?

I believe as long as the class is sequential and level is the similar, it wouldn't count against me. Right?

I'm pretty sure a lot of students took those classes at community college and had no problem getting in as long as they did fine in them. Plus I plan to take upper division science classes prior to my application.

The division of AMSA at my university recently had a meet the dean's night where we had the chance to grill the deans of admission for UCSD and another UC school (can't remember if it was SF or another).

Anyway, according to them, they don't really care where you get the pre-requisite courses, as long as they technically meet the requirement and as long as your grade is reflected by your MCAT scores.

Especially with the UC med schools, they are pretty lenient on that sort of thing because a lot of students go to community colleges and transfer into UCSD or other programs based on academic transfer guarantees. They know a lot of things influence your undergrad, from family financial situations, living requirements, high school academics, enrollment cuts, etc.

Just make sure MCAT's match up with grades and that your extra-curriculars are strong, and when it comes to interview time, if they ask about it, you can always explain. That and you have your personal statements to put in a word there if you're really self-conscious.
