I took some community college classes during the summer: English and Calculus...(which are a part of the pre-reqs)
and I was wondering if the grades I got in them would be counted in my Pre-Req GPA even though I took them at a CC?

Thank you!

From my experience with community college courses being transferred to four years university is that the class comes up as completed on your transcript, but the class isn't counted towards your GPA. That's how it is in my school.

Shouldn't your pre-optometry pre-reqs be taken at your university instead of a community college?

Although I think it is generally safer to take prereqs at a four year university, my counselor told me that as long as you don't take "core" classes (so basically chem, bio) at cc that it would be ok. I took calc at a community college too because it is known for being an impossible class at my university and I want that smaller classroom setting to take it in. I know that at my school we have a bunch of GPA's: classes on campus, total GPA including transferred courses, and a major GPA. Also optomcas recalculates your GPA in various categories...so I'll bet anything that those classes will be included in those calculations. If you just google "optomcas GPA calculation" it shows how the calculate your GPA and what the categories are.
