Does it matter where you take your Pre-Pharmacy courses? I want to go to NC and take Pre-Pharmacy courses(at UNCC) there and then come back to MN and apply to the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. What are the chances of getting in compared to if I just went to University of Minnesota to take my Pre-Pharmacy courses to begin with?

I was advised by my cousin (who is in his last year of pharm school) not to take your math and science pre-reqs at a community college. He said that community college doesn't prepare you for the pharm school and is not rigorous enough.

I have also heard of people that do take the pre-reqs at community colleges and get accepted into pharm school. Check into the pharm schools that you want to apply to and go from there. It's really a double-edged sword.

I am going to begin my pre-reqs this summer and I am taking mine at a 4 year university. Good luck to you 🙂

UNCC is a university. It doesn't matter too much where you do your pre-reqs at, just do well. One thing that could be a problem is MN might consider you an out of state student if you get residency in NC. Public universities typically take very few out of state students. However, I'm assuming your parents will still be in MN so that typically helps you keep residency. Some schools do favor students that complete their pre-reqs at their university, but honestly if you are a strong applicant you can get in anywhere no matter where you attend undergrad.
