Pre-rounds routine

For people who take a long time to get ready in the morning how much of a problem is this during third year rotations like surgery and OB?

Not a problem at all, you'll just be extremely sleep deprived rather than somewhat sleep deprived as you cut back on sleep to accommodate your morning rituals.

You get marginally faster at getting ready in the morning and go to bed earlier so you can wake up earlier. Really it depends on what you mean by a long time and why it takes you that long. Personally I can be a little sluggish first thing in the morning so I set my alarm earlier and leave for the hospital earlier to give myself a little more time in the morning to finish my work. Now if you take a long time because you have too much personal grooming to do then I'd suggest you cut back your routine on those rotations. (Or wake up earlier. If it is important to you then find a way)

You can cut back on some things, eg, no make-up required in the OR

Part of the problem is that I believe in taking care of myself, eating a balanced diet and following a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

So as you can see, there aren't many corners to cut. Hence the issue.

With such a complicated routine, how do you still find the time to mutilate prostitutes?

Whatever you do, don't skip your anal bleaching routine.

i still can't tell if you're being serious with this post. if so, the problem isn't that you are slow in the morning or need a lot of time, but rather your morning routine itself, as it suggests an underlying axis I problem.
if you aren't being serious then... well played.

Simple, you won't be cutting corners, you will be cutting the entirety. You need to roll out of bed at some ungodly hour, stand in the shower for 5 minutes to wake up, brush your teeth, shave, throw on some deodorant, put on some scrubs and head out the door. Grab a bagel or power bar and some coffee after you pre round if you have time. That's the morning routine from 3rd year on.

yeah, it sounds a little extreme lol

People don't care about appearance that much, unless they are like shallow LA models
There's no harm to cut a few things, sacrifices have to always be made for the "daily grind" like one person said.

The most disturbing trend in this thread is that so few people realize that they are being artfully trolled by someone quoting the movie American Psycho. This whole thread was a troll and by the OP's second post it was obvious.

Epic troll was epic. I have to say that was one of the best troll posts I've seen. Lot of fun. To be fair the first post does seem like something people could legit be concerned with. The whole waking up before 4 am thing was the only thing stopping me from being gung ho surgery when I started. (actual time with surgery hours allowed me to understand I actually function better on some levels with those hours)

You have to prioritize, but if you don't have time to return some videotapes on the way to work, you're doin it wrong

Eh, it looked close to 50/50 when I skinned (oops, skimmed) it.
