Boy, I had absolutely no idea how to phrase the title. Please forgive me!

I was just wondering...what it was like when it comes to specialties. Most people I know are like, "I want to be a doctor." A few say things like "I want to be a surgeon." I think I met one person who said "I want to go into peds heme-onc." If you started out thinking you knew what specialty you wanted...did it change after you got there? Just wondering what it does to neurotic heads who are convinced they want to be surgeons to find out ms3 that they absolutely can't stand cutting people open.

Most change their mind.
But, I came in wanting to do surgery and ended up doing surgery. Some of us "neurotic heads" do end up doing what we planned.

I've found way more ''neurotic heads'' who ended up doing what they planned than ''non-neurotic'' heads. It's kind of hard starting research in the field you're interested when you're a MS3, and if you probably won't work as hard for top grades if you're not deadset early on highly competitive specialties. There are good and bad sides to being a neurotic and non-neurotic head. Choose whatever suits you the best and good luck.

I know I'm a little late *my computer crashed and burned* but I wanted to clarify - I meant absolutely no disrespect - I'm one of those "neurotic heads" myself. Thanks for the input, I appreciate your answers.
