Some information about me:

Low undergrad GPAs and low MCAT; applied in 2017 and got no II; feedback from admissions was to look into SMPs; went to Caribbean school due to hubris and pride-had to leave for personal reasons and I wasn't doing well.

The way I see it, I have a few options:
Try to do SMP and reapply afterwards with new MCAT
Do a second Bachelors and reapply with new MCAT
Do a Science masters and reapply with new MCAT

The more I ponder my situation, the more distraught and upset I become. I'm willing to do the work but I feel so very listless and without direction.

Have your circumstances changed since the last time you posted threads asking about these issues?

You should consider keeping your questions consolidated to a single thread, it will be easier for everyone to track your questions and responses that way.

Sorry, I just get wrapped up in negative thoughts and post. I’ll try to avoid this in the future.

Poor judgement, inability to control negative thoughts, and impulsivity based on those thoughts are your greatest barriers. Best bet is probably SMP with guaranteed interview at school providing it if certain GPA threshold is met.

I chose option 4: New Career

Medical School Dropout + US Re-applicant + Low GPA + Low MCAT = Lethal.
SMP's are often the same rigor as medical school curriculum and to get an interview through a linkage program you must do exceptional (As). You have shown in every metric (Actual Medical School/GPA/MCAT) you don't have the academic chops. Most SMP's wouldn't admit you given your history anyways.

Stop wasting money.

Change careers. I work with atypical and problem candidates and try to avoid giving up on anyone. However, you were poor student, who made multiple poor decisions, and and drop out of poor medical school. I would give it up unless you can truly reinvent yourself with some years of successful service in Peace Corps or Military followed by at 2 years of academic work. And then I would suggest you have less than 9 in 10 chance

Thanks for the advice, jerk.

Not gonna happen for you. Choose something else...preferably something to help you pay off all of your loans.

I'd rather die than work some job I hate for purely financial reasons.

How would you know what will/won't happen for me?

This is exactly why you've had to make 3+ threads about this asking the same question. You ask for advice, people give you honest, realistic feedback, then you act immaturely and get offended.

If you really want this, get off SDN and go get it. You’ve gotten all the advice you need. You do need to look at your situation honestly though and address the root causes that put you in the “precarious situation” you’re in. Until you do that, your efforts will be futile. Good luck. I mean that sincerely. But for the love of God, help yourself be successful.

What would guys suggest I do?! I live in the middle of nowhere and have no options.

You guys are extremely pessimistic and insulting.

I have been doing just what you’ve described. I’m studying for the MCAT and looking into SMPs. I just have no reassurance or help from anywhere.

Normal master's programs may not be seen as competitive as an SMP linked to a medical school by adcoms. Some SMPs require the GRE or MCAT > 500 for acceptance (e.g. Virginia Commonwealth's SMP). With your track record, I would advise going with the formal SMP and retaking the MCAT if needed for matriculation. If not, take it after the program, but be advised the application cycle opens very soon after the semester ends and you might have to juggle adding MCAT study material to your SMP course work. So maybe study now while you are working and retake before the SMP and use an awesome MCAT to gain acceptance to an SMP, preferably one with linkage. Keep us updated - wish you the best of luck.

Jesus how many times do I have to answer your questions?

Edit: We kept your last few threads civil. Honestly you're just trolling at this point, or literally don't have the ability to make educated decisions for yourself.

How bad were your Caribbean medical school grades? Any chance that the sites people check for U.S. degree enrollment wouldn't show the Caribbean school and no one would reveal that information and it isn't in the public domain?

Maybe others in this thread are just students and fellow premeds. However, I dare to say that I am an authority having worked in and around medical school admissions for decades, and specializing in nontraditional, atypical, and problem applicants. You have a very very deep hole for yourself with poor undergrad, poor MCAT, and poor performance in medical school. No US medical school will look at you without and extreme makeover showing both commitment to service and superior academic performance and even though it is very long odds

But before any of that, you have to get you head out of your ass and stop venting at those who are trying to tell you reality. You need help in guidance and finding your way right now in life before you can even contemplate this path. There is no magic bullet here but years, I said years of reinvention that you would to do in life in order to even possibly apply.

I suggest that you take a moment and realize the anger you are taking out on here and consider apologizing to those are who do not know you but trying to help you get you life in order

I received financial aid-wouldn't an SMP see this?

This is required by AMCAS to report and since virtually everyone will have used some sort of loans associated with study, it will be noticed faster than than a loud fart in church via NSCH

Despite my performance, I know I'm not stupid. Hell, nobody on this site is stupid. I know I can be successful but my life just seems like a pit as of late. I don't mean to come of as angry or argumentative but people on this site tend to be quite harsh. I apologize to anyone I've offended.

Oh well, I tried... 🙂 😛

Go to hell; I’m over this dumb forum. You people are all shallow lemmings.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

Dude, I don't know how else anyone can say this to you. You have a lot of shortcomings, your temperment being a big one. You came to this forum looking for help and answers. To be fair to you, some of the responses were less constructive than others, but there are plenty I've read that are perfectly valid suggestions and instead of internalizing and executing on the good ones, you ignore them completely just to start flame wars with the negative comments. You should be doing the opposite. Listen to the helpful people and spend your time on their answers, block out the negative people and stop wasting your time with them.

Bottom line: you made mistakes. You have a lot of tenacity and persistence, which is admirable, sure. But none of that does you any good if you only make lateral moves and keep banging your head against a wall. It doesn't matter if you apply to a US med school now or years from now, eventually, you're going to have to explain the mistakes you've ALREADY made to adcoms. They don't magically disappear with an SMP (take it from someone who recently completed one and is currently applying). You have to self-reflect, develop a measure of humility, face your flaws, look for gaps in your app, and BECOME A BETTER APPLICANT. This journey is just as much about growth as it is about anything else. It's not just about "putting in the work". That's a brute force approach that is absolutely useless without planning and logic.

Look man, I get that you were hoping for a kinder environment here, but honestly, the majority of these folks are telling you the truth. I can only imagine you are in some serious debt by now, and if you take a good hard look at yourself, do you really think someone who tells others to "go to hell" just because they gave you a real answer would do well in the high-stress, high-stakes world of medicine? I genuinely believe that anyone has the opportunity to go into medicine. Really, I do. But if you are struggling to get in, you need to change the equation. Serious transformation is the ONLY way to make it for someone in your situation, and until you are ready to face that and actually take those steps, you'll just keep bouncing around.

To actually answer your question, if you are insistent on continuing, SMP with linkage is your only shot. Come clean with the program directors when you're applying to the SMP and discuss your options/chances. In addition to that, you'll need to add some serious plusses to your application (clinical experience, REAL research, military/peace corps). This will add years to your path before even matriculating, but the more extreme your situation, the more extreme the solution.

I hope you make the realizations and changes you need, and I wish you luck.

We understand that you are feeling vulnerable now, but we can't tell you what you want to hear, only what you need to hear.

Lashing out will only get you banned.

You have been given excellent advice.
