I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about the best way to find a preceptor? I got into PA school, but have not found a preceptor yet. I live in the bay area in california but I have not worked here before so I don't know any Docs, I moved from WA state. What is the best way to approach busy physicians about preceptorships? Also, does anyone know what the feelings are on physician assistants around here (the bay area)? In WA state you see a lot of PA's working in primary care in community health clinics, but here the clinics are filled with MD's, no PA's. I asked in a couple of clinics if they had a PA on staff, and the nurse and staff were a little snotty when they said "no, we don't have PA's here, we don't hire them" Did I just have bad experiences? Does anyone have ideas on this?
