GAVIN whats the deal here, best way to publicize site and you keep closing the thread!!! Its a site worth making a big deal about and instead of embracing it with more publicity your shutting it down. The more people know about it the more it can be usefull to all the predents. Even though people are giving opinions and comments it bumps it up to to the top so that more people get to know the site better. One thread worth having and you shut it down.

Just from my perspective, but perhaps they close the thread because they dont want the forums to turn into free advertising for other websites? Also, how long before the predents.com site starts charging a fee...I'm sure the thought of making a little bit of coin has already crossed somebody's mind from that site.

TeefRcool, check out the SDN usage policies.

You cant advertise without going through a little process. Therefore, your threads will keep getting closed down. Don't blame Gavin for it.

If its something worth keeping to help the predental community, keep the dang thing. Whats wrong with free advertising if its a benefit for all of us. Its the type of site where in order to be usefull it has to have people in it. I don't own the site except being an avid user and i thought that its something to let everyone else know about, that everyone can benefit from. Do as yo u will, Just sharing my opinion. 👍

Im all for the website. But you gotta look at it from SDN's point of view. People come here and use SDN as a resource. If there is another website that is giving better info, then SDN can lose some of its "clients".

Its all about biznass. Gotta pay to play.

personally, i think a link to Predents.com should be stickied instead of being locked and closed. I don't view it as advertising, but rather, it's an amazingly useful tool for dental applicants. It's not like the link is totally irrelevant to what we discuss in this forum. The more people know about the site, the more useful the site will be.

I agree on Biznass for sure, but by shunting away new creative ideas SDN will be restricting itself to expansion, thats bad business. The fact that predents will look at those stats and then come to SDN and discuss it and ask questions or what not will create more doors to questions, brining more customers to SDN. SDN is the homeground, the haven where we turn for answers, the rest of the sites are just tid bits to filling the holes.

Thank all you guys for the support of my website.

To address some comments:

I don't make a single penny on PreDents.com! In fact, it costs me money to do it (hosting and domain name reg). I won't ever put up advertisements or charge money to use it or create a record. However, at the request of several people, I might put up a donation page, but that's it.

I was a predent and also an SDN addict! I went through the living hell we all call the "application cycle". We all spent hours upon hours going to SDN and other sites, freakn out about the process. I just wanted to help other predents and make the info accessible and accurate.

I also didn't want to pull people away from SDN. That's why I won't add forums and wont add an interview feedback portion. I don't want to compete with SDN, I want to be a tool that SDN'ers can use.

I appreciate all my supporters and at the same time understand that SDN can do whatever they want and lock any post they want. It's their website. If they want one thread to be a sticky, thats great. If not, that's OK too.
