Which would you rather have, a hard test with a forgiving curve, or an easy test with a tough curve.

Seems like the NBME's are easy, but the curve is tough. On the other hand, the UWSA are a bit tougher, but have a more forgiving curve.

I SO much prefer the UWSA curve. I feel like I've studied hard enough to know some of the obscure facts, and that may help make up for some of the completely boneheaded errors that I am bound to make on material that I know. What do you all prefer?

In school, I was always above average on the hard tests and below avg on the easy tests.. so I hope mines hard (thats what she said)

The hard test has a more forgiving curve. The easy test will be curved "up" because everyone found the test easy.

Hard test.

Hard test.

Easy tests suck, because if you make a stupid mistake it costs you so much more. 😡

Kind of like when I was doing a WORLD block and I read "HYPER-" instead of "HYPO-", and I kept thinking to myself, "THIS QUESTION IS FLAWED, THERE IS NO RIGHT ANSWERS!" Only to realize after I went over to review it, that I am and idiot and suck at reading.

From what I've heard, Step 1 is an easy test with a tough curve, right? It sounds more like the NBME's than UWSA?

They should change that. Make it tougher.

If it is anything like the real MCAT (Kaplan vs. AAMC practice tests), it is probably a mix of the two.
