has anyone else noticed that some programs that have prelim spots (i.e. listed on their web site/freida), when selecting them on ERAS, have no box to select a track? i.e. for some programs you have to click categorical or prelim. i'm hoping this doesnt mean they have no prelim spots. arg.

any ideas?

example : maine medical center in portland, tufts, etc etc.

thanks

on freida,if you modify your search to include only programs which offer prelims, tufts doesn't show up,so i guess they don't offer one 🙁

ah true, if you look at the tufts web site
"We do not have a preliminary year in Internal Medicine.*"

however there are a bunch of prelims that seem to be in the program in maine on their web site(they seem to list prelims and categoricals etc) even though searching by prelim only as you mention eliminates maine...on the maine web site even it says: "offering 12 categorical (3-year) positions and six preliminary year positions that attract competitive candidates from across the country. "

ugh..

i wonder how up to date some of this stuff is...

hmm, i get in touch with portland/MMC, they said

"Thank you for your interest in our Internal Medicine program. Unfortunately, we do not offer preliminary positions. (The only ones we have are residents that are going into Radiology and Anesthesiology).
If you are interested in applying through ERAS for a categorical position, we would be pleased to hear from you."

oh well. although I still dont understand how they could have Radiology or Anesthesia residents, only, doing a prelim yr in the medicine dept. I kinda assumed all prelim yrs were the same, regardless of what your subsequent field may be.

wish i could spend a year in portland...
