did you rewrite a brand new one or just change the last paragraph of your ophtho personal statement? if you wrote a new one, what did you talk about? how can you write for a whole page why all your life, you wanted to do a prelim year?

also, in eras, did you tell them what specialty you were interested in or just left that field blank?

I changed it about 30% to say why I doing a prelim year would make me a better ophthalmologist. The main content of the statement was taken from the Ophtho PS and there was no point in not mentioning to the programs that I wasnt going into ophtho for PGY2. It was pretty obvious. GL !!

i literally just changed the last sentence

My school had a meeting for students applying to prelim and the Dean told us to just include an intro paragraph saying something along the lines of wanting a strong prelim in preparation for a residency in __. Below is my personal statement for __. (add a couple adjectives and eloquence and voila!) Don't bother changing the rest.

I took a flying leap and trusted her. Guess it didn't matter too much... got some interviews so far...

I did not receive any helpful advice on changing my PS for TY or Prelim applications; I did not change my Ophtho statement at all. I did, however, add one paragraph at the end of my distribution to Hawaii to meet their requirements.
