hey all, it's been a while since i last posted, & once again I'm looking for advice. I have my ophtho list pretty much set, and am now trying to put together a final prelim yr list to apply to. For background I'm from nyc, studying @ SUNY Upstate Syracuse, in Jr AOA w/ 245 step I scores, H's for all of 3rd yr, and strong letters are secured. Ideally I'd like to end up in manhattan, or nyc overall, for prelim yr. As of now my tentative list goes like this: transitional - ny hosp queens, st vincents, kettering, maimonides, flushing, ny med, st raphael (new haven), UMDNJ, Einstein (philly), Presbyterian (Upenn), St Vincents (Bridgeport CT), Griffin (Derby CT), St Barnabas (Livingston NJ); Prelim MDCN - Cabrini, LIJ. This is about 15 total, & I would like to trim it down to 10-12 & still feel safe placing. Any advice would be appreciated (specifically- any scoop on the mentioned programs, any others i should look into, a good # ro apply to & still feel safe, where i can find info on how many months of elective, surg, MDCN, etc each program has, any other prelim MDCN cush programs in the nyc area).
