Hellllo there fellow playaa....

I have been playing comp.games since getting my first computer with a 4 color screen!! .....in the last several years I outgrew computer games,....but I still read PCG every month!!

I never really played much MMORPG....I did play though games like Diablo I and II, Age of empires BF1942..etc etc.My all time favorite game is
HEROES of MIGHT and MAGIC II....still play it occasionally to this day..

I used to play UO. But as you said, they are VERY addictive and so I quit completely.

DONT DO IT....

With the Type A personalities that most of us have you will probably get obsessed with your character and try to make him the best he can be (top lvl, best equipment, etc...) like me. I played EQ2 for awhile... there was a special function in the game that allowed you to see for how many hours you had played.... I had 2 MONTHS logged and I had only been playing for 9 months in total.... I quit soon thereafter...

dont quit or play? lol are you guys in med school? or accepted

World of Warcraft! So addicting, but I'm learning to limit myself.

That statement is way too true, I have that exact problem. Luckily for me I haven't played more than 1-2 hours of videogames a week for about a year now.

Dumb question: what's the O stand for in MMO? I thought it was massively multi-player... but I don't really know what I'm talking about.

I played WoW a little last summer, but managed to pry myself away 😱

The O stands for "on-line."

cool, thank you.

but, isn't it redundant to be called that? how would it be massively multiplayer, or even minorly multiplayer, if it weren't online???

Started with TFC in HS. Then CS in College. I've been off WOW for 3 or so months. Played on the penny-arcade server (Dark Iron). One of my friend's friend was at Texas Tech Med school and was hooked on WOW and dropped out. Last I heard he was still playing. If that's not bad enough, what about those Korean guys who die after a session. Jeez..

On a different note, I think Evercrack is having a 30 day free trial period due to WOW's dominance.

Oh and I forgot to add MUD to the list... (multiple user dungeons.)

What the hell are all these acronyms you people use?
The only video game I've played in the past like 7 years is katamari damashi (sp?) and it was pretty cool. I didn't understand a word anyone said in the game and I don't think I'll be playing it again anytime soon.

Does not have to be "online" to be multiplayer...could be a LAN only game

I used to play competitive counter-strike in college and in my year off and while working played FFXI quite a bit ^^

Gave them up in grad school, although I still delve in the occasional cs binge
😀

The new katamari is coming out. This time that lord of the universe dude has fanmail asking him for favors.

Not necessarily. "On-line" describes the type of RPG it is. There are RPGs that are boardgames that a group of people get together and play, so those are multiplayer but not on-line.

Anyways, to anyone who find themselves playing til the last second before going to work, going to bed, going to take that midterm, going to whatever.. I would say yes you are addicted like I was, and yes you should either quit or find a way to curb your addiction. You will probably want to be working on your patients during call, not LFG in Ogr.

But my skill in first aid is 300!
LFM for ER, need healer PST.

LF1M BFD!!!!!!

. . . sorry. My bad. That's my OTHER addiction.

Yay gamers! I run the LAN parties at my undergrad, last one is coming up the last day of school. Battlefield1942, Unreal Tournament 2k4, Call of Duty United Offensive, and Counterstrike 1.6. W00t. Anyways, the gamers at my undergrad played Guild Wars and WoW a bit, I can't stand MMOs because they're such a waste of time. I was wondering if I'd be able to organize any LAN parties at med school. I suppose we'll see. Any of you people at or going to MUO, Case, or Duke (trying to decide between those, lol). Peace.

Most of my friends play World of Warcraft and they have asked me several times to ... get addicted to it.

Personally, I know that if I do start playing, I will not devote my time to schoolwork and will effectively throw my future away.

I do like to play "Red Alert 2:Yuri's Revenge" (a futuristic war RTS game) but I only play that for an hour or two here or there. That I can pick up and set down.... same thing with Smash Brothers... 👍

I started playing World of Warcraft over this past Christmas break. Once school started, I actually uninstalled the game and left it at my parents house. I still play, but fortunately I can control myself.

I used to be way addicted to games. Counterstrike, Diablo II, and DAOC were my main drugs of choice.

I ended up unstalling everything and locking them all in a closet when I got put on academic probation for a second time. 2 years later, I figured I could control myself with WoW but actually I didn't even really enjoy it that much. And recently my PS2 and Gamecuber were stolen along with most of my games but I didn't even care that much because I hadn't touched them for months beforehand. Mostly I was just mad that I hadn't sold everything first.

It's weird, when I was really into games I couldn't control myself at all. Now I can't get into them at all. When I'm hanging out with friends who are still gamers and we're playing games all I can think is, "God, I can't wait till we do something else."

A couple of my friends are getting into EVE now. From what I hear I probably would've loved it before.
