Hey guys,

In high school i got community college credit for gen chem with lab, which was six years ago this fall. I took one semester of upper level inorganic chem with lab at my UG institution, and all other science courses were taken at my UG institution as well. I know almost all med school require science courses to be taken seven years or earlier, so this falls under that category, but would the fact that I took one of my sciences at a community college six years ago be looked down upon at all? (Obviously my one semester of upper level will not completely satisfy their requirement, so I need to utilize at least one semester of this CC credit). If this is a problem, would it be tempered at all if I did really really well on the physical sciences section of mcat?

In generally, I'm interested in whether this would be a problem at the more competitive med schools.

Thanks in advance.

Take a deep breath and relax. At most medical schools it will not hurt you to have taken courses, even prerequisites, at a CC. Most adcom members understand that not every student follows the traditional path to medicine. This may come up at elite programs, but will unlikely make a difference in your application cycle.
