Dont yal hate those pesky prenatal rxs with specific amounts of FA, iron etc lol or weird dha combos, or even very specific kids multivits? If i get those rxs and cant find the NDC specified or it isn’t covered, i call the prescriber’s office to get an ok to dispense whatever i have. Ive noticed some colleagues don’t do that. They fill the same animal shapes or kids multivits regardless of rx, same with prenatals. They dont put any note either. Do u go ahead and refill it or do u call to get an ok from dr? Its still wrong to me but people seem to say oh it was already filled last month just give it. That doesnt change the fact that there is no note lol i know it isnt major stuff but legally isn’t it still deviating from the rx?
I just posted a thread about insulin quantity and rphs billing/dispensing for a greater qty than on rx without a note. I can kind of see why that’s done because most of the time docs have issues with the software, and it isnt malicious. Not saying this multivit or prenatals substitution is malicious either but its kind of swapping it out for different strengths or different ingredients than prescribed without getting an ok, vs for insulin its just a quantity issue-not quality.
