Hello, I'm a third year dental student at MUSC.
I know that PASS has not opened its application for the 2014 cycle.
But was wondering if anyone who went through it before can give some awesome tips to prepare ahead so that I can submit the application as soon as it opens up!
:)
Thank you in advance! :D

I say go ahead and work on your personal statement. That seems to take the longest. Get a few people to read it and give you feedbacks. Also identify who you want to do your evaluations (personal potential index - PPI.) You can have 3-5 PPI. You have the option of submitting traditional evaluation as well. Some programs may ask for traditional evaluation, while others don't. If you submit traditional evaluations, don't get the same faculty who did your PPI do write it. These are the main things that will take the most time on PASS.

I hope it helps, and good luck!!

I don't know if you are talking about GPR/Pedo/Ortho or OS, but I know for OS that many programs wanted hard copies of almost everything. I would start checking out the websites, emailing, calling, etc. to figure out what they want. Don't always trust the websites or the PASS supplementals listing because they are sometimes out of date. I would do everything I could to not only get the PASS stuff together, but to get those supplemental items together. I made an Excel spreadsheet with the names of each program, and then a square for each item needed, like Undergrad transcripts, Dental transcripts, CV, photo, etc. Then I would systematically pack each into an envelope and mark what each has in it. If you want to see my excel file as a guide, feel free to PM me

I suggest you sign up for pass this round before its over. Once you get in the system, dig everything out of it and try to play with things that may get you in trouble such as PPI or whatever. This way you will have the feeling like you already applied once so when you have to do it for real, it will be very quick and smooth. My first time in pass took me a month to get it done, while I got 99% done within two days for my 2nd time. My last 1% was the things that I could not do myself like PPI and evaluations. I hit submit when my supplements are all in the envelops and ready to send out. I also do have and excel for Ortho programs too, it's hard but it will give you the best way to get things organized.
